What comes to mind when you think of a hero? Hollywood star? Successful entrepreneur? Professional athlete? Rarely is the guy next door viewed as a hero. Derwin L. Gray is about to change that and how the world defines heroism.
In his book, "Hero: Unleashing God's Power in a Man's Heart", former NFL team captain, pastor, and YouTube sensation as the Evangelism Linebacker, Gray calls men to live heroic lives by following the great Hero.
Gray asserts that men are made to be heroes. However, the pressures of staying afloat in a paycheck-to-paycheck existence eclipse any acts of boldness and valor, relegating heroism to action movies and fantasy worlds. Until now.
In "Hero", Gray combines teaching points gleaned from his childhood on the wrong side of the San Antonio tracks to his life now as pastor, speaker, author, husband, father and friend with the truth of Scripture to inspire men to realize the heroism God intends them to exhibit.
Written in three sections, Hero challenges readers to look at the Upward journey, the Inward journey, and the Outward journey. Gray's wife, Vicki, also brings her perspective to Hero with insightful notes included throughout the book. Each chapter ends with an application section focusing on the head, the heart and the hands, giving men a plan of action for becoming the hero God made them to be.
